Miramonte High School Celebrates Senior Night With a Pair of Victories Against Campo

The senior night spirit was certainly in the air as the lady Mats polo squad took on crosstown rivals Campolindo High School. Cal commit Rosalie Hassett '24 opened the scoring for the Mats followed by a stalemate after the first quarter. The Mats began to pull away in the second quarter with the help of goalie Eliana Bottene '25 and some key goals from UCLA commit Tali Stryker '24. The Cougars tried to mount a comeback late in the second half, but the Matadors dominated the game with a final score of 12-8.Â
Men's Recap
Starting off the night strong, the boys water polo team came out firing in the first quarter. Junior Griff Tunney '25 started the scoring with a backhand to give the Mats the lead as they ended the first quarter up 3-1. Late in the second quarter, senior and co-captain Oliver Sherwood converted on the 6 on 5 to give the Mats a comfortable 6-2 lead at the half. The Mats didn't look back as they pulled away in the third quarter behind a hat trick from Henry Engs '24 and a final goal from Luke Wagner '24.
