Women's Basketball Season Recap
March 7th, 2024
The 2023-2024 Women's Basketball campaign saw a difficult early season schedule. The first ten games didn't go as planned, as the Matadors went 3-7 during the tough stretch. The girls could have given up but instead continued working and completely rebounded with an 11-1 league record (2nd place) and 20-11 overall record. The strong finish secured an NCS playoff birth and a home first round playoff game as the number three seed. That round one matchup was a blow out win over Rancho Cotate High School. The 2nd round of NCS was a great battle that ended in a last second heartbreaking loss to Northgate High School.
Karena Eberts was named the MVP of the DAL and also broke the school career rebounding record with 1166. The previous record holder was Breanna Alford. Julia Quinn Ferguson was named to the DAL 3rd team. Senior Marianna Lawrence and Freshman Annie Lindberg made the DAL honorable mention list.
Karena Eberts (Sr. Captain): "We had an amazing season, came in 2nd in our league, beat Campo and won our Sabrina Ionescu Showcase game! I absolutely loved this season and playing for Miramonte. I've achieved and learned more than I ever thought I could. Go Mats!"
Willa Mapaye (Sr. Captain): "The season didn't end the way we wanted it to, we fought for everything throughout the year. We all showed up and worked hard every day for each other. I couldn't be prouder of what this team accomplished. It was a really fun season."
Maeghan Eichenberger (Sophomore): "I think this season was a great example of growth and it really proved to all of us, as players, that it doesn't matter how you start the season as long as you learn and keep improving along the way."
