Miramonte High School Announces Nick Safir as New Head Football Coach

Nick Safir has been named as the new head football coach at Miramonte High School, Athletic Director Sean Hennessy announced on Wednesday. Safir brings to Miramonte an impressive background as a football coach and Social Studies teacher.

"We are thrilled to welcome Nick Safir as the next head football coach at Miramonte," said Hennessy. "This was an extensive search and hiring process with many qualified candidates, and Nick stood out from the beginning. We talked to a number of people throughout this process and everyone he has worked with or coached against agrees that he is not only an excellent football coach, but a great leader of young men. We look forward to welcoming Nick and his family to Miramonte."

Safir holds a Masters in Secondary Education and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Linfield College, where he was a standout athlete on the football field. Following his collegiate playing career, Safir transitioned into coaching and teaching. He currently is a middle school Social Studies teacher at Bret Harte Middle School in Hayward.

Throughout his coaching tenure, Safir has demonstrated a commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel not only on the field but also in the classroom and in their communities. His coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, values that align closely with Miramonte High School's vision.

It is a privilege to have the chance to work with such a talented group of student-athletes and to contribute to the proud tradition of excellence that defines Miramonte football. I am committed to building a program that instills values of hard work, integrity, and resilience, both on and off the field. Together, we will strive for greatness and leave a lasting legacy that extends far beyond the game of football."

Safir previously served as a Defensive Coordinator at three stops in the last decade: Piedmont High School, Encinal High School, and most recently Moreau Catholic High School. He was also the Special Teams Coordinator at Encinal and Moreau Catholic. His teams have accumulated an 84-45 record including eleven playoff victories, four semi-final appearances, and one NCS Championship appearance.
