The Miramonte Matadors took a tough loss Friday night, losing 42-0 to the Acalanes Dons. The Mats came out flat on both sides of the ball, outdone by the Dons with 528 yards to the Mats 325 yards in what was their biggest test of the season thus far. While the Mats put together some solid offensive drives moving the ball down the field, none could be converted into points, as they went 1-6 on fourth down attempts and punted three times. Injuries to offensive starters Palmer Rhodes '24 and Finn McMannus '24 proved significant, as the Dons pressured quarterback Carson Blair '26 all night long and shut down the Mats downfield passing game. Blair finished with 19 completions on 30 attempts for 149 yards, with Jack Quinnild leading the team with 53 scrimmage yards. On the defensive side of the ball, the Mats could not find an answer for the Dons lethal passing attack, which has been demoralizing opponents all season long. Coming into the game, they had averaged over 52 points in their last four contests. Dons receivers Trevor Rogers (Cal commit) and Niko White combined for nine catches for 243 yards and five touchdowns.

This marks the Mats fifth consecutive loss to the Dons, with their last victory coming in the 2018 season. This also marks the Mats largest recorded loss to the Dons since MaxPreps began tracking game scores in 2004. The road to victory doesn't get much easier next week, as the Mats square off against their crosstown rival Campolindo Cougars (5-2-1), who have not lost to the Mats since 2010. The Mats aim for a productive week of practice in order to be the team that snaps the streak.
