Miramonte High School congratulates Rosalie Hassett ('24) and Meghan McAninch ('23) for helping lead the US Women's Junior National Water Polo team to a gold medal at the World U20 Water Polo Championships in Salvador, Brazil. 

Ending a 10-year championship drought at the World Championships, the US Team rallied past Spain to clinch a thrilling 16-15 victory for the gold. Hassett and McAninch were key contributors throughout the tournament, each scoring crucial goals in the final match. 

During their careers at Miramonte, Hassett and McAninch solidified themselves as two of the best players in school history, each winning several NCS and CIF titles in addition to a multitude of individual honors. Most notably, they were part of back-to-back undefeated seasons for the Lady Mats in 2021 and 2022, earning those teams #1 national rankings in both years. 

Hassett and McAninch have continued their dominance at the collegiate level, competing at UC Berkeley and USC, respectively. Representing two of the finest programs in the country, both players will undoubtedly play huge roles in fulfilling their teams' championship aspirations this season. 

Miramonte is proud to be home to outstanding student-athletes like Hassett and McAninch, and our entire school community wishes them continued success at the collegiate and international level. Go Mats!
