Miramonte Women's Tennis Continues Pre-Season Hot Streak

The finals at the US Open weren't the only place where high-level tennis was being played this weekend. At both the JV and Varsity levels, Lady Mats Tennis had outstanding showings at their respective tournaments, further solidifying Miramonte as one of the premier programs in Northern California. 

JV
The JV team swept the James Logan Tournament, winning each of their four-round matches versus Foothill, Alameda, San Ramon Valley, and host James Logan. The squad is on a tear, starting the season 6-0 with no signs of slowing down as they take on University and Bishop O'Dowd this Thursday and Friday. 

VARSITY
Varsity enjoyed a strong performance in the Golden State Classic at Menlo School, a premier tournament that draws many of the best teams in the nation. The Lady Mats defeated Branham 5-0, University 3-2, Westlake 4-1, and CCS powerhouse Monta Vista 4-1. Although they were defeated by San Diego's Canyon Crest Academy (1-4), they still placed 5th out of 32 teams, the highest finish of any NCS school. 

Caitlin Chan and Madison Silveira dominated doubles play, going a perfect 5-0 on the weekend. The sister duo of Madeleine Essner and Isabelle Essner was similarly dominant, dropping only one match on the weekend. The Lady Mats have a huge rematch on Thursday against University High to wrap up the pre-season schedule before entering DAL competition.
