Matadors Walk It Off Against the Washington Huskies

Miramonte Matadors got the win on Thursday, March 20th, in dramatic fashion, with an 8-7 walk-off victory over the Washington Huskies. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when Gianna Granzella singled, scoring the winning run. The walk off single was also the last leg of a cycle for Granzella. The infielder went 4-5 in the game with an inside the park home run in the fourth inning, tripled in the first inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Matadors launched a comeback with three singles in a row from Maddie McKim, Abby Warren and Lucy Daoust. The Mats took the lead after Talia Kardon singled down the right field line, followed byTalia Hagan struck by a pitch, Avery Haynes walked, Alexis Sandstrom walked, and Granzella singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Abby Warren earned the win for Miramonte. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and seven runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out 12. The Matadors amassed 13 hits in the game with Warren and Lucy Daoust each collecting multiple hits.
