Steve Hammond has been named the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Miramonte High School.

Hammond brings a wealth of experience from his 11-year professional career and 10+ years of athlete development and coaching. A graduate of Alhambra High School, he competed at the collegiate level for Sacramento City College and national powerhouse Long Beach State prior to being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers. Hammond played nearly a dozen years for various organizations, including the San Francisco Giants and overseas teams around the globe.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to start a new chapter of Matador Baseball," said Coach Hammond. "Having lived and coached in the community for several years, I've built relationships that will help me hit the ground running from day one, and I look forward to sharing my experience and energy with our players as we build a winning culture at Miramonte!"

In his post-playing career, Hammond founded Bay Area Ballplayers, a prominent athletic training facility in Moraga. He has also coached at Diablo Valley College (Pitching Coach) and the University of San Francisco (Director of Player Development). Hammond lives with his family in Orinda.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Hammond to the Miramonte coaching staff," said Principal Ben Campopiano. "His professional background and ties to the local community make him the perfect leader for our baseball program."

"Steve brings a tremendous amount of knowledge, passion, and credibility to Miramonte Athletics," added Athletic Director Sean Hennessy. "I am confident he will create an environment where our student-athletes can thrive on and off the field."

The Miramonte community welcomes and supports Coach Hammond as he ushers in a new era of the Matador Baseball Program!
