DOUG ROBBINS, '84
Doug Robbins played football and baseball at Miramonte. In 1983, as a football player, he was named SF Examiner All-Bay Area and All Northern California, while helping lead the Matadors to a North Coast Section title. As a baseball player, he was named Examiner All-Bay Area in 1983. After Miramonte, Doug decided to play baseball at Stanford. As a catcher for the Cardinal, he played on NCAA champion teams in 1987 and 1988. He was named All-College World Series in 1988. That same year, Doug earned a Gold Medal, playing for team USA at the Olympic Games in Seoul. In the 1988 Major League Baseball Draft, he was selected by the Baltimore Orioles. Over the next 4 years, Doug worked his way up the Orioles organization to the AAA Rochester Red Wings. In 1993, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics and wound up his baseball career playing for the AAA Tacoma Tigers.
