ROGER DURANT (1963-1996)
Roger Durant was a teacher, football coach, and wrestling coach at Miramonte from 1963 to 1996. His wrestling teams were league champions twelve times and won four league tournament championships. He coached teams to two North Coast Section titles and two second place finishes. In 1976, Roger was selected by USA Olympic Coach Vaughan Hitchcock to be on staff for the 1976 Olympic Games. He was named Parker Robb Super Sport Coach of the Year in 1976, NCS Honor Coach in 1991, California Coaches Association Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1999, and National Coaches Association Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1997.
