ROGER DURANT (1963-1996)
Roger Durant was a teacher, football and wrestling coach at Miramonte from 1963 to 1996. His wrestling teams were league champions 12 times and won 4 league tournament championships. He coached teams to 2 North Coast Section titles and 2 NCS second place finishes. In 1976, Roger was selected by USA Olympic Coach Vaughan Hitchcock to be on staff for the 1976 Olympic Games. Roger was not able to accept due to surgery. He was named Parker Robb Super Sport Coach of the Year in 1976, NCS Honor Coach in 1991, California Coaches Association Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1999 and National Coaches Association Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1997.
