PETE JENSEN, '67
Pete Jensen led the MatadorsĀ basketball team in scoring in both his junior and senior years, while he was named second-team All-League as a junior and first team All-League as a senior. He was also named All East Bay as a senior in 1967. Pete set a school record for points in a single game (41). In his senior year, he averaged 20.7 ppg and collected 300 rebounds and made first-team All Tournament at the Camellia Basketball Tournament in Sacramento. He was then invited to play in the prestigious Nor Cal East-West All Star Game. After being recruited by about a dozen Division 1 schools, Pete decided to continue his basketball career at the University of Pacific, where he played on WCAC Co-Champion team in 1970 and WCAC Champs in 1971, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for just the 3rd time in school history. He was inducted into the UOP Hall of Fame as a member of the 1971 team.
