NICOLE BRANAGH, '97
Nicole Branagh competed in basketball, volleyball and track & Field at Miramonte. In basketball, she was first team All-League and league MVP as a senior. In track & field, she was league champion in both the long jump and triple jump in 1995. She still holds school records in the high jump and triple jump. In volleyball, she was league MVP as a senior, and was named Contra Costa Times All East Bay in 1996 and 1997. Nicole went on to play volleyball at the University of Minnesota. In 1998, she earned first-team All Big 10 honors. In 1999, she was again named first-team All Big 10 and second-team All-American. As a senior in 2000, she was a third consecutive first-team All Big 10 selection, was again second-team All American and was named Big 10 Player of the Year. She holds the record for the most kills in school history, a number that remains among the top 15 in NCAA history. Nicole was a member of the National Volleyball team from 2001-2003, before transitioning to beach volleyball. She played professionally on the AVP Tour, where she was named AVP Rookie of the Year in 2004, AVP MVP in 2009 and Offensive Player of the Year in 2015. Nicole played on the US Olympic team at the games in Beijing in 2008.
